Enjoy live jazz at West Falmouth Library with the Alexis Cole Trio, performing on Sunday, January 19th at 4pm. Doors open at 3:30pm. Presented by Falmouth Jazz and the Library. Tickets are $45–purchase at falmouthjazz.org.
Identified by her smoky voice and sultry treatment of jazz standards, reviewers have compared Alexis Cole to classic jazz singers Sarah Vaughan and Anita O’Day. Jazz History Online says, “Cole displays an exuberant personality, outstanding diction, flawless pitch and inspired scat technique, all qualities that should place her in the highest echelon of contemporary jazz singers.”
During her two tours of duty in the US Army (2009-2015), Ms. Cole performed as the lead vocalist of the West Point Big Band. Here, she honed her skillful, mature interpretations of the standards and developed her ability to soar effortlessly above the ensembles as evidenced in her 2024 album release, Jazz Republic: Taiwan, the United States, and the Freedom of Swing, a cross-cultural collaboration between Cole and the Taipei Jazz Orchestra.
Currently, Cole leads the Jazz Voice program at SUNY Purchase and conducts master classes worldwide.
