Dr. Wendy Ellis March 2025 Lecture Flyer

Lifestyle Factors and Memory Loss with Dr. Wendy Ellis, ND

The second talk in our Wellness series is Saturday, March 1st at 1:30pm. Dr. Wendy Ellis, ND will speak on “Lifestyle Factors and Memory Loss”. This is a free event but we ask that you register below. Donations accepted at the door.

Dr. Wendy Ellis is a functional medicine physician with over 20 years of experience in the healthcare field. She has extensive experience in the menopause field – and enjoys working with both men and women as they navigate the aging process, including cognitive impairment. Data from the 2022 National Health Interview Survey found that 4.0% of adults age 65 and older (living at home) reported having received a dementia diagnosis, though some studies suggest it’s up to 10% of our population. Alzheimer’s is the most common cause of dementia, accounting for an estimated 60% to 80% of cases. In 2020, the Lancet Commission reported on 12 significant factors across the lifespan that influence your risk of dementia. Research suggests that 40% of our risk comes from factors that we can control.

This lecture is intended to help you understand the different types of dementia, factors that contribute to cognitive impairment, methods of testing and evaluation – and provide an evidence based approach to prevention and / or treatment.

The Wellness series at the Library continues on Saturday, April 5th 1:30pm-3pm with a panel discussion about Fall Risk. And, Thursday, June 5th at 6:30pm, Dr. Kumara Sidhartha speaks on a topic related to June’s National Cancer Survivors Month.
