
“A Sankofa Journey: The African in America” An Artist Talk by Robin Joyce Miller
Falmouth’s Juneteenth Community Celebration Committee, in observance of Black History Month, presents “A Sankofa Journey: The African in America”, an artist talk by Robin Joyce Miller, on Saturday, February 22nd 2pm-4:30pm. Robin Joyce Miller is a native New Yorker who retired from teaching in the NY Public Schools system in 2012, after a 30+ year career. Robin and her husband, James W. Miller, retired to the Cape after their respective teaching and banking careers. She received a B.S. in early childhood education from Baruch College and an M.S. in learning disabilities from Lehman College. She studied fine art at a variety of schools including the New York School of Interior Design, Parson’s School of Design, Manhattanville College, College of New Rochelle and LaGuardia Community College’s Sabbatical Program for teachers. Robin co-authored, The Faithful Journey – From Slavery to Presidency, with her husband James, himself a lifelong poet. She also wrote and illustrated Who Do You Say That I Am – A Man Called Jesus with paintings inspired by Ethiopian Christian art. Miller specializes in African American Heritage mixed-media art.
